About Chalet Hunter
Alpine chalet at sunset

Ski chalets in the Alps, booked direct.

An independent marketplace for travellers who'd rather deal with the person running the chalet than a booking platform's call centre.

Manifesto

We started Chalet Hunter because booking a ski chalet had stopped feeling like booking a ski chalet.

Every big platform took its cut. Hosts paid commission, raised their rates to cover it, and you ended up speaking to a call centre rather than the people who actually run the place. We built the alternative: hosts list their chalets here, you find them, you book direct, nobody in the middle takes a slice.

Principles

Four things we'll never trade away.

The decisions that shape how the platform works for hosts and guests — and the reasons we won't change them.

  1. 01

    Direct booking, no middleman

Every enquiry and booking goes straight to the person running the chalet — the owner, the manager, the chef. No call centres, no agents, no commission skimmed off the rate the host quotes you.

  2. 02

    Guests pay nothing to us

There is no booking fee, no service charge, no platform mark-up. The price you see is the rate the host has set. Whatever you pay goes to them, on their terms.

  3. 03

Hosts pay a flat annual fee

Listings are funded by a flat subscription, not by commission per booking. That removes the incentive for us to push you toward one chalet over another and lets hosts price honestly.

  4. 04

We monitor listings and do our best to verify hosts

Verifying ownership and operating legitimacy across multiple countries is genuinely hard — paperwork is inconsistent, regulations vary, evidence is patchy. We monitor listings on the platform and put in the work to verify hosts where we can. We don't pretend it's a perfect process; we just commit to doing it honestly.

How a booking actually works

You enquire. The host replies. You book.

There is no Chalet Hunter representative in the chain. When you send an enquiry from a listing, it lands in the inbox of the person whose name is on the door. They quote the rate they set, you pay them directly, and the contract is between the two of you.

That sounds obvious. It is not how the big platforms work — and it is the entire reason we exist.

  • Enquiries go straight to the host's inbox
  • The host quotes their rate — what you see is what you pay
  • Payment, terms and cancellation policy are set by the host
  • Chalet Hunter takes no cut and never holds your money

Where we focus

Five countries.
One mountain range.

We're deliberately not trying to be everywhere. The Alps and Pyrenees are where the platform's hosts operate and where the team skis — so it's the only place we list.

The best ski week of your life is almost always at a chalet you booked direct. We just made that easier.

The team

A small team that actually skis.

Chalet Hunter is independently owned and funded. No private equity, no growth-at- all-costs mandate. We answer to guests, to hosts, and to whoever's on the next chairlift.
